DENVER (KDVR) -- The Fort Collins Police Department said Sunday that multiple hazards and stolen items were found at a homeless camp.FCPD's HOPE Team, the group that cleans up homeless camps, found the site where police said there were multiple environmental hazards and "an extensive amount of fire hazards." Neighbors push back as Denver plans third hotel shelter along Quebec Street Police said they found a total of 48 syringes, as well as two stolen bicycles valued at $6,300.FCPD said the HOPE Team works to get the people at camps into safe, sustainable and long-term housing solutions.FCPD added that homeless campsites are always tagged before a clean-up to give owners time to remove belongings.

Fire rescue crews in Fort Lauderdale battled a blaze inside an apartment building.According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, the fire broke out Saturday afternoon in a fourth-floor unit at the Ora Flagler Village complex along the 600 block of Northeast Third Avenue.Officials said no one was hurt.Investigators are attempting to figure out how the fire started.

Driver injured in police-involved shooting in NW Miami-Dade charged with attempted murder; passenger appears in court

Police have identified the driver who, they said, was taken to the hospital following an officer-involved shooting in Northwest Miami-Dade and have confirmed a second arrest, as more details of the incident that also left an officer injured come to light.According to Miami-Dade Police, what started with an attempted routine traffic stop ended with shots fired in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and 64th Street, Friday evening.Investigators said an officer attempted to pull over 38-year-old Virgil French, who was behind the wheel of a white Dodge Challenger, but the motorist refused to stop, eventually hitting an electric pole.Speaking with reporters Friday night, MDPD Detective Luis Sierra, said the suspect used the car to injure an officer.“Our officers quickly assessed and attempted to make contact.
