Gilroy City Council rejected an electronic billboard along Highway 101 that the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society, Sierra Club Loma Prieta and Green Foothills also opposed. Nighttime light harms wildlife and has been shown to harm human health too. The structure would have been 75 feet tall with a 672-square-foot display area, adversely affecting our environment, safety, energy consumption and health, and impairing our view of the universe too.Gilroy, along with San Jose and other cities, should develop a dark sky ordinance to guide light pollution decisions. Approving an electronic billboard project without a dark sky ordinance fails to consider its overall impact and the proper management of light pollution. The city of Cupertino has such an ordinance, and residents of o...OPD investigating Rendon's swing at A's fan as battery; incident caught on video

(KRON) -- Los Angeles Angels star Anthony Rendon took a swing at an Oakland A's fan Thursday night in a confrontation that was caught on video. In the video, which was posted to Twitter, the Angels third baseman confronts a fan in the stands who he seems to think has just insulted him.The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating the incident, which it is calling a "battery." The fan in the video has not contacted OPD. Oakland A’s ballpark ranked worst in U.S. "What did you say?" Rendon can be heard asking the fan as he grabs him by the shirt. The fan replies with something inaudible. Rendon then replies, "Yeah, you called me a b**ch, huh?"The fan, nodding his head in denial, suggests he did not call the two-time Silver Slugger that word."Yeah, you did. Yeah m***********r," Rendon said as he is still grabbing onto the fan's shirt. Rendon then appears to throw a left hook but misses as the fan was able to back up and dodge the punch. Rendon walks away as the 12-second clip ...LIV Golf Orlando Par Scores

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Surveillance footage capturing the attack at a Colorado gay nightclub that left five people dead and 17 others wounded will not be made public until it is presented at trial, a judge ruled Friday.Prosecutors and defense attorneys had argued that releasing the gruesome video could make it difficult to seat an impartial jury and would further traumatize the survivors while disrespecting those who were killed in the Nov. 19, 2022, shooting.“Those individuals deserve the respect of not having the last moments or the most traumatic moments of their lives broadcast and downloadable from a State of Colorado web site,” Anderson Lee Aldrich's public defenders wrote in a March 2 motion. 14 teachers leave school during shooting threat; principal placed on leave They also argued that, unlike printed court documents, it would be too difficult to redact the video, which shows "moments of death and severe injury to several people."Judge Michael McHenry agreed not t...Loveland High principal placed on leave after teachers left campus

(CNN) — Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman has been discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he was being treated for depression, his office announced Friday. He will return to the Senate when it returns from recess on April 17, his office said in a news release, confirming CNN’s earlier reporting.“I am so happy to be home,” the freshman Democrat said in a statement. “I’m excited to be the father and husband I want to be, and the senator Pennsylvania deserves. Pennsylvanians have always had my back, and I will always have theirs.”Fetterman checked himself in last month “to receive treatment for clinical depression,” his chief of staff said at the time. A source familiar with the matter previously told CNN that while Fetterman was not suicidal, his symptoms for depression included loss of weight and loss of appetite.“I want everyone to know that depression is treatable, and treatment wor...Ex-Jazz coach Quin Snyder praises Royce O’Neale’s versatility for Nets

Nets veteran forward Royce O’Neale spent the beginning of his NBA career as a longtime starter for the Utah Jazz. The 29-year-old and his former head coach Quin Snyder — who replaced Nate McMillan as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks in late February — reunited ahead of tipoff between the Nets and Hawks at Barclays Center on Friday. The Nets acquired O’Neale as part of last summer’s tumultuous off-season, reading the Utah Jazz a first-round pick for O’Neale, who helped add depth, defense and perimeter shooting to a team built around Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in pursuit of a championship. The Nets kept O’Neale on the team even after the trades that sent Durant and Irving out West. He now comes off the bench after starting most of the season, and it’s his versatility his former coach heralds — noting times he used O’Neale as a defender against two-time MVP Nikola Jokic in matchups against the Denver Nuggets — as what ma...MassGOP leader: Trump indictment was ‘politically motivated’

MassGOP Chair Amy Carnevale said the indictment of former President Donald Trump was “politically motivated,” and rather than hurt his campaign, will embolden him as he seeks the 2024 Republican nomination.Further, Carnevale said the charges against Trump, who was indicted by a Manhattan Grand Jury in the Stormy Daniels hush-money case, won’t change the minds of any Republican voters, as most already have a strong view about whether they support the former president or another candidate.“The charges stem back to what, at the time, was a misdemeanor offense for which the statute of limitations expired,” said Carnevale, who was a Trump delegate in 2016 and 2020. “So to have a DA in Manhattan kind of try to elevate these charges at this time seems politically motivated.“I’m hearing from a lot of grassroots Republicans that they want to rally around President Trump at this time. So, I think the effect of this prosecution and indictment is really going to have the unintended consequence ...Latest news
